My last few articles have addressed looking after your soft tissue with self massage and mobility drills to help you perform and get rid of pain. In other words, we looked at exercises we can do to bring about favourable change from the outside in.

But self myofascial release and mobility drills only cover a small part of the multifaceted approach to optimal health and performance. You can be fit, but that doesn’t always mean you’re healthy. In this article I’ll look at inflammation, its role in health and performance and how we can go about keeping it under control.
