Recommended Reading to Develop a Better You...The purpose of this page is to point you in the direction of books that I believe can and (if you take the messages within and apply them to your life) will enhance your life after reading them. I'll let you in on one of my main goals I have for myself and that is to Be Better Everyday in Every Way. If I can do that then hopefully I can positively impact the lives of the people that are around me. Back in school I didn't read. I was not really interested unless it was a skateboarding magazine or surf magazine... A lot has changed since then and now I currently average around 2 books a week. Those two books per week now are pretty carefully chosen, they are books that are either going to enhance my knowledge in my field of expertise, or ones that are going to help me develop personally. It has been said (not sure by whom originally) that if you read/study for one hour per day in your chosen field in one year you will be pretty knowledgeable (that one year adds up to around nine 40 hour weeks). Could you imagine if you studied 40 hours per week for nine weeks how much you would know! Now they also say that if you continue that habit for 5 years that you WILL be the EXPERT in your field. So my challenge to you is to read more but read more books that will stimulate your mind, ones that will ultimately lead you to become an expert in any field you desire. So below is a list of books that I have read and that I recommend anyone should read. The first book listed is a book my Dad gave to me around the age of 20 (I can't remember for sure) what I can remember is that this book has a profound effect on me and set the wheels in motion to demand of myself a life of continual development. Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand The astounding story of a man who said that he would stop the motor of the world - and did. Ayn Rand presents the fundamentals of her philosophy in her brilliant novels The Fountain Head and Atlas Shrugged. Ayn Rand states that "her personal life is a postscript to her novels". Her philosophy in essence, is the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute. Fountainhead by Ayn Rand Jonathon Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach This would be without a doubt my favourite book of all time. There is a lot to be gained from this little book... Jonathon Livingston Seagull a story Don't Sweat The Small Stuff... and it's all small stuff by Richard Carlson, PH.D The Virtue of Selfishness by Ayn Rand (currently reading) Sucking the marrow out of life the John Maclean Story with Paul Connolly The Measure of Success by Ron Clarke Losing my Virginity by Richard Branson How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery Its Not About the Bike by Lance Armstrong Heart of a Champion by Greg Welch Illusions by Richard Bach This would have to be the follow on from Jonathon, you will have to re read to grasp what Richard Bach is trying to get across. As a Man Thinketh by James Allen Download it free here Go Girl by Natalie Cook Feel the Fear and Do it anyway. by Susan Jeffers I will be adding more and more as I go through my list....
